I’ve always been a Chicken Burger guy, anywhere I go I’m always on the look out for the best burger. I’m not adventurous when it comes to food because I’m extremely picky or fussy as they say. For starters I only eat chicken breast, yes you heard me correct… that’s my only meat and that’s that.
My little brother Sean knowing this called me a night saying he has a burger for me to try and he swears that it’s amazing. I am always up for a food run so I was in. He took me to Morvant on the Lookout by this tall gentleman named Marcus, whose food cart is named Midas Touch Handburger. Marcus is probably the most polite and respectable guy you’d ever meet. Just the way he rattled off his menu at the top of his head it came across as poetry. I was like ‘if this guy’s food is as good as his first impression, I’m going to rate him high.’
Sean told me to get the fully loaded Hakka Chicken Burger which came with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, egg, fried plantains, jalapeños, pineapple and cheese. Oh my word! Every word sounded too good to be true… Finally he starts on my burger and the process, the way he moved from the grill to the chopping block back and forth, as smooth as Michael Jackson, it was like watching a Kung Fu master demonstrate a kata with perfection.
As he handed me my burger he said, “Here you are sir, I hope you enjoy your meal”. I couldn’t help but notice the layers of ingredients stacked like Jenga and the photographer in me couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of this masterpiece I hadn’t tasted yet.
Now it was time… It was so much to hold, I had to spread all my fingers like I was gripping a basketball and that first big bite felt like I found my soul mate, I almost shed a tear. This guy does indeed have the Midas Touch. In that moment I realized all the years I’ve been eating chicken burgers, this is the first time I’ve actually had a real one… it had me wondering ‘What the hell was I eating before?’ This burger blew past any previous burger that I had by a mile.
That burger was so good I had to feature him in the Express Her Magazine that I was a team member of at the time. Now Marcus and I are really good friends. After that day we met, I was all over preaching the goodness of Midas touch until this day. His quality has never been compromised. Even during the pandemic, he maintained his standard and took financial hits so that his customers won’t feel the pinch on their end. The man himself is one of the best human beings I’ve ever met and proud to call him my friend.
If you are ever in the area and you’re hungry, please go have a Midas Touch Handburger… Oh and I almost forgot… I bought so much burgers over the years, the fully loaded is now called the Kirky Special, I’m not kidding you lol. If you dare, go ask for it and please let me know your thoughts.
